Solar Panels: The Enviromental and Economic Benefits
Utilising solar energy has been around for over a hundred and fifty years and has always been known as one of the most environmentally friendly forms of energy extraction. The use of solar energy cells (or solar panels) has seen a real rise in popularity over the last decade and many people are choosing the eco friendlier option of subsidising their fossil fuel based energy with that harnessed from the sun’s rays.
The main advantage of using the sun’s rays to obtain energy is that the sun will not run out (anytime soon at least!). Most of our energy has come from the burning of fossil fuels which has been fine, until now, people are becoming increasingly aware of the earth diminishing energy resources and solar energy is really the perfect antidote to this problem and what’s more, it’s free. This coincides with the fact that solar energy does not let off any harmful gasses like other fossil fuels would that have to be burnt, instead it just soaks up the sun’s rays with absolutely no pollution. This means that the o zone layer has less risk of being damaged by harmful greenhouse gasses thus keeping the sun’s harmful rays out and making the earth a safer place to live.
Solar energy is also an extremely versatile form of energy. It is now used in everything from chargers to solar powered cookers and of course we all have enjoyed the childhood fascination of playing with a solar powered calculator! These have been around for quite a while now and have done away with the need to constantly replace batteries that could be also damaging to the environment.
Although solar energy is invaluable to the planets’ future and the retaining of its natural resources, it has also many financial benefits as well. Solar panels often pay for themselves after the first few months of having them fitted as this is typically the only cost you will incur (along with the very occasional bit of maintenance). This is due to the fact that we do not have to pay for the suns energy so it can greatly lessen, if not completely relieve, the monthly energy bills you will be so used to getting. There are many City centre apartments (for example, you will see many solar panels Yorkshire) now that are opting for either solar subsidised energy or complete solar energy, not just because they are flattering to modern architecture, but because they too drastically reduce pollution and energy bills alongside.
The benefits of solar energy are unrivalled and will hopefully be installed across the UK in the coming years so that many more people can benefit from their economic and environmental advantages.

Thanks for this Kirsty, great article. We’ve also noticed more and more enquiries from people living within cities and in apartments across the whole of the UK
